Yellow Belt

The motor of every Lean organization. Yellow Belts are capable of solving problems in their normal work environment. They do this by applying a standard set of tools that help them to move through the PDCA cycle, using a Problem Solving A3. Every Yellow Belt project passes the following phases:

  • Current Situation

The following tools are used in this phase: Process Thinking, Process flow mapping, Swim lane processes, Spaghetti mapping, operator Bar Chart, Learning to see, the 7 wastes, Value, VOC, Takt Time, SIPOC, Problem Definition, Goal Definition.

  • Root cause Analyses

The following tools are used: Fish bone diagram, Brainstorming,5 x why, challenging the solutions

  • Counter measures

The following tools are used: Short term versus long term solutions, 5S, Visual Management, Error proofing (poka yoke), Prevention and Detection, Prioritizing, effort vs benefit balancing.

  • Implementing Solutions

The following tools are used: Standardized work, Standard work and the Tier process.
