Delivering an On the Job training is something that should not be taken lightly.
It is important for the business, but is also an important event for the trainee.
They learn a new skill that should prevent them from getting hurt, but will also help to advance a career or keep a job. Remember this every time you teach, no matter how much routine you have in delivering a training.
While you are delivering the training, follow the standard 4 steps:
Prepare:
- Yourself, are you in the right state of mind, not distracted or occupied with something else?
- The trainee, is in the right state of mind, not distracted either?
- The situation, prepared, enough material to practice, no distractions, not to much noise?
Show:
- The Instructor demonstrates and explains.
Do:
- The trainee executes the task, while being coached and mentored by the Instructor.
Check and Qualify:
- The trainee executes the task while supervised until qualification.
